Vigourfest 2010
| Join our friends at Vigour Projects in celebrating their first annual concert “VigourFest” alongside the official launch of Vigour Projects: the first ever not-for-profit organization of its kind using music as a vehicle to build heart-healthy communities. |
VigourFest is a fundraising concert whose net proceeds will support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. The concert will promote great music, great artists, and great health through a variety of heart-healthy food samples and cooking demos from Karma Food Co-op.
Vigour Projects is a new not-for-profit, MaRS (www.marsdd.com) registered, social innovation initiative. Its first call to action was Meatless Music 4 Mondays, a “heart-healthy” song contest for local independent musicians. The contest winner will perform live at VigourFest. All net proceeds of the contest are donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
Vigour Projects is the brainchild of Toronto Cardiologist and musician Dr. David Alter. Dr. Alter brings together a team of musicians, music therapists, health care providers, and like-minded medical researchers as a way of developing a music health program with an evaluation and research component that will generate funds for
participating charities.
